VMWare

0

The vibes coming out of VMWare at the moment are great. For those of you non-techy, you may want to skip this entry, but before you do, you might want to check out their Browser Appliance which runs in the free VMWare Player. This is just a great way to try out new software safely.

I am seriously going to consider running Ubuntu linux under VMWare Server in order to help me get to grips with it, not to mention some of the applications that are available via the community center and whatever may come out of the VMware Ultimate Virtual Appliance Challenge.

Looking foward to posting more on this. Anyone out there given it a go?

No comments yet…?

I’m going to have to become a little more interesting, as not had any comments yet! Lost your tongues!?

I did notice that on the front page I’m showing the full entries, so maybe you aren’t bothering to go any further and find the comments box.

Another thing I want to tweak is the link for comments which when there are none says rather obviously “No Comments” rather than something more intuitive like “Add a comment”. We’ll see how easy that is to change in the templates.

In the meantime, feel free to tell me I’m boring! :-)

Tania was weighed and measured again today, she’s now into week twelve. How time flies!

Tania @ 11 weeks

So here is the key data:

  • Weight: 5.15 Kg (a little over 11lbs I think)
  • Height: 59cm!

She is still “long” as they say in spanish!

Playing with Linux

0

One of the reasons I haven’t been posting much lately is that I have finally bowed to the urge to dabble a little with Linux.

A while ago, after seeing a number of comments of others having given it a go, I downloaded the Live CD for Ubuntu and had a play. I was quite impressed, it worked well, was intuitive, and I wanted to get online with it. Thats when I hit a problem. I couldn’t find any way of getting it to see my USB broadband modem, so I left it at that, and went back to suffering Windoze.

Something made me want to come back for more though. So I accepted the idea of an install, as a dual-boot option (That is, a choice when I boot up my PC, call me a coward, but I wasn’t quite ready for the all or nothing aproach!). Turns out it was dead easy. I followed some instructions, and hey presto! I had installed an alternative operating system!

I’ll blog some more about what I got up to next, my thoughts on Ubuntu etc. Plenty more to tell!

Not posted in a while…

Lets see what we can do about that, plenty of topics to post about!
