SLUG it is (for now at least!)
4The Spanish Lotus User Group I mentioned seems to be , despite my personal lack of affection for the name!
It is important to point out that the name isn’t intended to exclude, but rather the idea is to keep this as open as possible, referring to all Spanish-speakers rather than the country.
Importantly, seems to be making progress in gathering ideas for the agenda, support from IBM, etc. There is even talk of using Sametime for those unable to travel! We’ll have to see how things pan out.
For now, I’d like to add my call to that of Josep, we’d love to hear from you if you:
- have some advice
- would like to offer some help
- have discovered a desire to present on a Lotus-related topic in Spain
- or simply would like to attend!
I’ll keep you posted as things develop.
Anyone else noticed ibm.com’s updated wardrobe?
0I really struggled with the title for this post given ‘s dismay at some of the recently to describe the new Notes 8 UI!
“I’m with you on that old chap, we can’t be having with these god-awful abuses of the language!” spoken in the appropriate accent!!
Anyway, what I wanted to mention was what appears to me to be some pretty subtle but interesting changes I have noticed on the IBM website lately, or is it just me? I may well be late on this, but it looks like the design team have been busy giving things a more crisp and modern look, complete with glossy effects and new icons.
Good to see IBM really showing they are getting this “Web 2.0 thing” in so many ways!
Oh, and me likes!
Lotus User Group España
5This is my first post here in Spanish, a little late considering I live here, but an English version follows below.

English Version
This great idea surfaced up over on blog last week, and seems to be well received. on the subject. even stopped by to offer his support, cool!
It is a thought I have had in the back of my mind for a while, like Josep, a little green (pun intended!) over the success of , and thinking that Lotus in Spain, and the spanish market could benefit a lot from this kind of energy and enthusiasm. So I would be more than happy to offer what help I can in order to try and make this a success.
With regard to the name, being English, SLUG doesn’t really work for me, so my suggestion would be LUG.esp or something similar. The idea stuck in my mind a little, and I even had a play and threw together a couple of ideas for a logo…(if you read this far, you have already seen them!)
Comments welcome!
Lotus Quickr and Connections announced
0I know this has been well covered already, but no harm in repeating the message!
IBM has formerly announced the two new products we have been waiting for so eagerly, and .
I have recently been exploring the two quite a bit, and can honestly say they are a big step forward as collaborative tools in the enterprise.
If you still can’t wait for the 29th, and haven’t yet done so, get over to the and sign up!
Keeping things on track
0I have deviated here lately quite a bit from the real purpose of this blog, which I intended to keep fairly geeky, mainly around collaboration, Lotus software and a bit of Linux and other things thrown in for good measure. I want to get back on track.
There are plenty of other things I think I’ll want to waffle about, but will try to do so over on my more . So feel free to drop by over there and hear some of my more general ramblings!
Too much going on!
0Its been a while since I posted here, but as I’ve heard the pro bloggers say, I’m not apologising!!
Things are getting back to normal after a few hectic weeks both at work and home, what travel and visitors, usual stuff that once in a while keeps us sane and away from the PC!
Lots of interesting stuff on the radar right now though, so if anyone’s listening, stay tuned!
